Enable historical reaggregation

In the Sitecore Experience Platform, the Experience Database (xDB) processes a continuous stream of contact interactions that you can include in Experience Analytics reports.

By default, Experience Analytics ignores historical data and only processes new interactions, which are interactions that have been saved after the deploy date of a segment in Experience Analytics.

If you have historical interactions that you want to include in your Experience Analytics reports for a new segment, from Sitecore Experience Platform 8.1 Update-2 or later, you must enable reaggregation.

Important

For Sitecore Experience Platform 8.1 Initial or Update-1, to include historical interactions, you must import historical data into Experience Analytics.

To enable reaggregation:

  1. In the \Website\App_Config\Include\Examples folder, in the Sitecore.ExperienceAnalytics.ReAggregation.Scheduling.config file, remove the .example suffix.
  2. Move the file up into the Include folder.
  3. In a text editor, open the Sitecore.ExperienceAnalytics.ReAggregation.Scheduling.config file and navigate to the reAggregationAgent node.
  4. To set the time when the reaggregation agent should begin including new segments, in the triggerHour parameter, enter a value using the 24-hour clock. For example 9 for 9 am or 16 for 4 pm.
    <reAggregationAgent
    <reAggregationAgent
    <param desc="triggerHour">9</param>
  5. Save your changes.
